Mass Death
Irregular breathing.
Sighs bursting out,
too hurried to contain,
and sobs
so utterly silent.
No matter how tightly
I cover my eyes,
no matter how wide
I force them open—
the silence will not lift,
a blade glints across the back of my hand,
and so, with such composure,
I swallow death.
Fragments
scattering into the air.
