What longing keeps last night's fog lingering among us still? Sunlight pierces the veil of mist that wraps around us and drenches our eyes. I try to match my shape to the pine trees, shuffling through their dance. I take apart the little gazes that fill this unwelcome morning with illusions. Along the long, unspooling current of light, voices come surging in, wave after wave. But the distant scent of water leaves me dizzy, and I turn my eyes away.
