Untitled 23

My mother— my mother, so achingly beautiful— once again, today, she strokes the wounds across the backs of my hands. She lifts my head so it will not strike the asphalt. When the season comes for fresh fruit to ripen into green, she plucks it herself and places it in my hands. The seasons fall from the trees. She rots. And the sky grows higher, higher without end.
